I joined Rotaract at the beginning of 2008 after ‘checking out’ the groups and clubs section of The Courier website. My reason for joining was to try and meet some new friends and to also do some community and charity work.
So far I have managed to try some new things like Disc Golf and have drastically improved in my capability of bowling along with the shuffle dance I do when I get a strike (thankfully for others that doesn’t happen too often)!
I am really looking forward to the 2008/09 Rotaract year and meeting lots of new members.
Hi. I joined Leamington & Warwick Rotaract in February 2006 and have been an active member of the club ever since. I have been on the board for 3 years and this will be my 4th year. I have been president and vice president and am again taking on Charities, Fundraising and Events, which was my main reason for joining Rotaract in the first place. Alongside this I am also the Rotaract District Chairperson for 1060 for the 2nd year running.
I spotted Rotaract in the clubs and societies section of the local paper. I wanted to put something back into the local community and Rotaract has provided my with the perfect opportunity to do this as well as meet some great people, take part in activities I would never have done before and raise money for charity.
Hi! I’m Melissa and I joined Leamington and Warwick Rotaract earlier this year after spending a couple of years with the High Wycombe club. I initially joined because I was moving to a new town and wanted to get to know as many people as possible and get involved with lots of different things and I have certainly been able to do that! Not only have I met great people through the club, I’ve helped raise money for loads of fantastic charities doing anything from helping with club-run events to fancy dress parties on top of all the social events held! I’m certainly never at a loose end!
I enjoy badminton, walking, cycling, playing music and exploring new places.
I am the current longest serving member and joined in March 2004 to meet new people and raise some money for charity. I work at Coventry University and amongst my interests are supporting the mighty Wolverhampton Wanderers, playing football, running, walking in the countryside and listening to soul and motown music, and I love music generally.
In my years at the club I have been Publicity officer for more years than I care to remember, and have also been website officer, secretary, vice president and social secretary. I'm also the one responsible for what you're looking at now (the website)! I enjoy the relaxed style of the club, its good being able to dip in and out depending on what else is going on in your life.
I joined Leamington and Warwick rotaract early in 2008 purely for the social side of things mixed with fundraising side and a wish to meet new people thrown in for good measure. I find its more than I imagined it would be and I think its a credit to the club that its still going stronger than ever.
When I’m not doing things with Rotaract, I enjoy training my English Springer Spaniels and brewing my own variations of Sloe Gin and any other alcoholic cocktail I can think of!
I like alcohol, chocolate, icecream and spending time down at the beach with my family. I dislike Beans, most vegetables (except potatoes, broccoli and carrots!) and people who dont like dogs.
